HOW TO USE THIS CHART:
Application Example:
Peripheral milling plain carbon steel (1020) with a 2-flute 1/4” dia. E3302 uncoated end mill; radial depth of cut .25 x Ø, axial depth of cut 1.5 x Ø.
To Find Cutting Feed Rate (FT)
  • Select the appropriate SFM from the Operating Guides above.
  • Reference closest dia. for the cutting application
  • Select the corresponding type of cut
and # of flutes of the cutter
  • Select the corresponding Ft range
  • To calculate RPM: SFM/D x 3.82 (225/.25 x 3.82)
    To calculate IPM: IPR x RPM (.0060 x 344)
                                                        (.0023 x 2 x 3438)
