Reconditioning
To complement the extensive range of PHP Solid Carbide tooling offered by
Precision Twist Drill, we offer you a reconditioning service for worn or
damaged PHP drills.
Reconditioning Reduces Costs
Reconditioning can halp your overall cost per hole. Most tooling can be
reconditioned up to three times, while maintaining its original high performance
capabilities. Reconditioning costs are a fraction of the cost of new tools.
Therefore, you can reduce your total tool costs by as much as 50% by reconditioning
the recommended three times.
Recoating Services
To obtain high material removal rates with the same tool life, PHP drills must
be recoated again after reconditioning
Note:
Reconditioned and recoated tools have the probability to be oversized due to
the diameter tolerance and back taper, and coating thickness due to recoating.
Continuous Quality
All recommended tools are inspected using quality standards in Precisions ISO
certified environment , ensuring reconditioned tools have the same exacting
standards as original tools.
Reconditioning Policy
- Delivery in 15 working days (quantities 30 or less)
- Tools are laser marked after each reconditioning
- Tools returned in new protective packaging
Reconditioned tools can only achieve their original performance if they are
sent in a moderate state of wear, without serious damage. Precision reserves
the right to refuse a tool for reconditioning based on inspection.

PHP Benefits
Enhanced Geometry
The key to the success of drilling is to apply a geometry which
will form, accommodate, and evacuate a chip, carrying away the
heat. The combination of a point geometry and flute are critical.
The PHPs self-centering point reduces thrust and controls ship
formation at the axis of he point. This cutting action improves
dimensional accuracy, provides for a freer cutting tool action,
and faster metal removal rates. The PHP flute form acts as a chip
breaker so tightly curled chips are kept away from the inner-hole
wall, thus improving its surface finish and reducing torque associated
with chip congestion. This improved control allows for easier chip
evacuation.
PHP Coatings
With the increased demand for faster metal removal rates, the acceptance
of coated product is advancing. The most proven coatings are TiN and TiALN
which creates an improved thermal barrier by providing increased wear
resistance and higher oxidation threshold. The key to its success is the
addition of aluminum, which increases the hot hardness capability.
Increased Productivity
The PHP drill can increase your productivity by a factor of 20 times
over high speed steel as seen by the graph shown to the right. Plus,
increased penetration rates, which reduce the cycle time for producing
a hole.
The result, lower cost per hole.
